How the Summer Reading Program works:
Dig Into Reading – Summer Reading Program for Children
Preschoolers through 5th graders earn a free book for every four hours they read. Plus, for every four hours read, you can enter a drawing to win your own portable digital microscope or an inflatable rock wall. One microscope and one rock wall will be given away at each location and the Bookmobile. Children who complete 20 hours of reading are also invited to a special ending program at each location, which may include an archeological dig, a puppet performance or more live animals! The Children’s Summer Reading Program is sponsored by a generous grant from The Stocker Foundation.
Groundbreaking Reads – Summer Reading Program for Teens
Sixth through 12th graders have their own program. For every five hours read, you earn a free book. You also get an entry into a drawing to win grand prizes! Four grand prize winners will be drawn at each location and on the Bookmobile. Special programs will be held for teens at different locations all summer including a life-size game of Clue®, a video game party, a recycled craft program and karaoke. The Teen Summer Reading Program is sponsored through generous grants from The Foundation of the Lorain Public Library System, Inc., Friends of the Library and Emerson Network Power, Energy Systems, NA.
Groundbreaking Reads – Summer Reading Program for Adults
Adults will be enjoying “Groundbreaking Reads” at each of our locations as well, so stop in to see what prizes are available at your location.
2013 marks the 38th year the Lorain Public Library System has held a Summer Reading Program!
The goal is to keep everyone reading during the summer!
